We use A or AN with singular nouns.

A is used when a noun starts with a consonant sound;

e.g.�a dog, a book, etc.

AN is used when a noun starts with a vowel sound;

e.g. an apple, an hour, etc.

We use SOME with countable nouns (only with their plural) and with uncountable nouns.

SOME is used in:

* positive sentences;

e.g. I have got some time.

* questions, expressing requests and offers;

e.g. Would you like some tea?

We use ANY with countable nouns (only with their plural) and with uncountable nouns.

ANY is used in:

* negative sentences;

e.g. I haven�t got any time. �

* general questions;

e.g. Have you got any sisters?

Some, Any

ทั้ง some และ any  ใช้กับคำนามที่ไม่ต้องการระบุจำนวนหรือระบุจำนวนไม่ได้  จึงใช้กับนามนับได้ในรูปพหูพจน์เท่านั้น  หรือ นามนับไม่ได้

เช่น

some cows , some men, some milk, some water

any cats, any women, any oil, any butter

Some ใช้ในประโยคบอกเล่า ใช้ในประโยคคำถามเชิงขอร้อง เชิงบริการ และเชิงแนะนำ

เช่น

I have some butter. 

I have some pens.

Could you please give me some water? (ร้องขอน้ำ)

Would you like some coffee?  (บริการกาแฟ)

Why don’t you give him some food?  (แนะนำให้บริจาคอาหาร)

Any ใช้ในประโยคปฏิเสธ และ ส่วนใหญ่ในประโยคคำถาม
