เดือนมิถุนายนที่ผ่านมา ASUS ประกาศต่อพนักงานว่าจะมีการปรับโครงสร้างองค์กรครั้งใหญ่เพื่อรับมือกับกำไรที่ตกต่ำ แม้ในจดหมายฉบับแรกจะมีการเน้นย้ำหลายครั้งว่าจะไม่มีการปรับลดพนักงาน แต่พอเข้าสู่เดือนกรกฎาคมพนักงานแผนกพีซีในไต้หวันและจีนหลายรายกลับถูกแจ้งยกเลิกสัญญา นอกจากนี้ยังมีการคาดการณ์ว่าแผนกสมาร์ทโฟน Zenfone จะถูกยุบทิ้ง เท่ากับว่า Zenfone 10 จะเป็นรุ่นสุดท้ายของซีรีส์

ASUS ออกแถลงการณ์สั้น ๆ ฉบับด่วนปฏิเสธข่าวลือข้างต้นแล้ว โดย ASUS ยืนยันว่าแผนก Zenfone ยังไม่โดนยุบ Zenfone 10 ที่เป็นรุ่นปัจจุบันของซีรีส์ก็ยังไม่ได้เลิกผลิต ส่วนรายละเอียดเพิ่มเติมจะตามมาภายหลังในรายงานผลประกอบการบริษัทประจำไตรมาส 2 ปี 2023

สื่อต่างประเทศให้ข้อมูลว่า ในตอนแรก ASUS ได้แจ้งกับพนักงานแผนกพีซีว่าจะถูกโอนย้ายไปยังแผนกมือถือ ซึ่งแบ่งย่อยออกไปอีกเป็นสองแผนก คือ Zenfone และ ROG แต่ว่าภายหลัง ASUS เกิดเปลี่ยนใจ ไม่ทำ Zenfone ต่อ จึงนำไปสู่การเลิกจ้างพนักงานบางส่วนตามที่ปรากฏเป็นข่าวล่าสุด คาดว่าจะมีพนักงานที่ได้รับผลกระทบราว 1,000 คน โดยพนักงานเหล่านี้จะทำงานจนถึงเดือนกันยายนเป็นเดือนสุดท้าย

นอกจากนี้ Mishaal Rahman ยังพบอีกว่า ASUS ได้เลิกสนับสนุนเครื่องมือปลดล็อก bootloader สำหรับ Zenfone รวมถึงทยอยลบแพ็กเกจเฟิร์มแวร์ของ Zenfone รุ่นเก่า ๆ ออกไปจากหน้าเว็บไซต์แล้ว อาจเป็นการตอกย้ำข่าวลือดังกล่าวในอีกทางหนึ่ง

สำหรับ Zenfone 10 ที่พึ่งเปิดตัวไปเมื่อเดือนมิถุนายน มาพร้อมจุดเด่น ‘เครื่องเล็ก – สเปคเรือธง’ คือมีบอดี้ขนาดกะทัดรัด แต่ฮาร์ดแวร์ภายในยังคงจัดเต็ม พร้อมด้วยระบบกันสั่น 6 แกน Hybird Gimbal 2.0 ที่พัฒนาขึ้นจากรุ่นก่อน ราคาเริ่มต้นประมาณ 30,900 บาท วางจำหน่ายเฉพาะบางประเทศ
