Hi guys! สวัสดีค่ะนักเรียนชั้นม.6 ทุกคนวันนี้เราจะไปเรียนรู้ “การใช้ Quantity words เช่น many/ much/ a lot of/ lots of  ” ในภาษาอังกฤษกันค่ะ Let’s go! ไปลุยกันโลด

Quantity words คืออะไร

“Quantity words” คือคำบอกปริมาณนั่นเอง เราจะไปดูวิธีการใช้ให้ถูกหลักไวยากรณ์กันจากตัวอย่างที่ครูนำมาฝากในวันนี้นะคะ ในบทเรียนนี้ เราจะพูดถึง การใช้ much, many, a lot of, lots of  ซึ่งทุกคำล้วนมีความหมายเหมือนกันว่าจำนวนมาก หรือ มีปริมาณมาก แต่ทั้ง 4 คำนี้ มีวิธีการใช้ที่ไม่เหมือนกันค่ะ  เราจะได้เรียนรู้จากตัวอย่างรูปแบบประโยคด้านล่างนะคะ

 “Much VS Many”

การใช้ much VS many มักจะใช้ในประโยคที่มีความหมายในเชิงลบหรือประโยคปฏิเสธ หรือในประโยคคำถามก็ได้

*** ส่วนใหญ่มักจะพบในหนังสือราชการ, เอกสารทางกฎหมาย, หรือบทความทางวิชาการที่เป็น Academic English นั่นเองจ้า

การใช้ “Much”

much จะแปลว่า ปริมาณมาก แต่มีหลักการใช้คือ จะใช้คู่กับคำนามนับไม่ได้ (uncountable noun)เสมอ

โครงสร้าง: much + uncountable noun

How much money do you have left?
เหลือตังค์เยอะหรือเปล่า

I have much respect for you.
ฉันเคารพคุณมาก

การใช้ “Many”

many แปลว่า จำนวนมาก แต่จะใช้คู่กับนามนับได้ที่เป็นพหูพจน์ (plural countable nouns)เสมอ

โครงสร้าง: many + plural countable nouns

Many students want to study abroad.
มีนักเรียนหลายคนที่อยากไปเรียนต่อต่างประเทศ

• เทคนิค: so + much/many

ตัวอย่างการใช้ So much ในประโยค:

I miss her so much.
ฉันคิดถึงเธอมาก

We love the winter so much.
เราชอบฤดูหนาวมาก

There are many children who were left behind after their parents died.
มีเด็กหลายคนที่ถูกทิ้งไว้ข้างหลังหลังจากที่พ่อแม่เสียชีวิต

เทคนิค: much/many + of…

James spent much of his time working from home.
เจมส์ใช้เวลาส่วนใหญ่ทำงานจากที่บ้าน

We have got much food left over last night.
เรามีอาหารเหลืออยู่มากเลยจากเมื่อคืนนี้

• เทคนิค:how + much/many
  ส่วนใหญ่แล้วเราจะเจอ การใช้ how much และ how many ขึ้นต้นประโยคคำถาม แต่เมื่อใช้ในประโยคบอกเล่าจะเรียกประโยคเหล่านี้ว่าเป็นส่วนขยายเพื่อบอกว่า …มากเท่าไร/เพียงใดเพื่อบอกจำนวน

ตัวอย่างคำบอกปริมาณอื่นๆ ในประโยคที่แปลว่าจำนวนมาก และจำนวนหนึ่ง เช่น

A number of students want a new foreigner teacher.
นักเรียนจำนวนหนึ่งต้องการครูต่างชาติคนใหม่

มีการดาวน์โหลดข้อมูลจำนวนมากไปยังแฮ็กเกอร์

***ให้นักเรียนระวังอีกนิดนึงนะคะถ้าเจอ The number of นี้จะตามด้วยนามพหูพจน์ แต่จะตามด้วย กริยาเอกพจน์เสมอ เพราะว่า The number of มันหมายถึง จำนวนนั่นเองจ้า

ตามโครงสร้าง: The number of + Plural Noun + กริยาเอกพจน์ (is/was/has/takes/increases and and etc.)
จำให้ได้ด้วยน๊าออกข้อสอบบ่อยเวอร์
