Netflix was originally planning to release House of Cards Season 6 this spring, but the season's development and production were delayed after Kevin Spacey was accused of attempted sexual assault by actor Anthony Rapp and sexual assault and harassment by several House of Cards crew members. Spacey was subsequently fired, but the show was renewed. House of Cards will return for its sixth and final season this fall — with Robin Wright at the center of the political drama as President Claire Underwood.

  • Release Date: Fall 2018
  • Cast: Robin Wright, Michael Kelly, Jayne Atkinson, Derek Cecil, Patricia Clarkson, Cody Fern, Greg Kinnear, Diane Lane, Boris McGiver, Campbell Scott, Constance Zimmer
  • Showrunners: Melissa James Gibson, Frank Pugliese

Kevin Spacey's Departure From House of Cards

In the wake of the

MeToo movement, actor Anthony Rapp (Star Trek: Discovery) revealed that when he was fourteen, Spacey (who was twenty-six at the time), made aggressive sexual advances towards him. House of Cards and Netflix responded in the weeks following Rapp's allegations, first announcing that the sixth season of House of Cards would be its last. When additional allegations surfaced against Spacey, including from crew members on the set of House of Cards, production was put on hold. Eventually, Spacey was fired and the House of Cards writers conceived of a new plot line that would allow production to move forward without Frank Underwood.

Spacey was also fired from Ridley Scott's film All the Money in the World; Scott chose to reshoot major portions of the film and replace Spacey with Christopher Plummer.

House of cards season 6 ม ก ตอน

After a few months in limbo, Netflix confirmed that season six of House of Cards would continue production in early 2018, without Kevin Spacey's involvement. Instead, the show would shift focus to Robin Wright as the newly sworn-in President Claire Underwood. It is unclear how Spacey's character will be used in the new season, if at all.

Other supporting cast — including Michael Kelly as Chief of Staff Doug Stamper, Jayne Atkinson as Secretary of State Cathy Durant, and Derek Cecil as Seth Grayson — are all slated to return. Boris McGiver and Constance Zimmer will return as journalists Tom Hammerschmidt and Janine Skorsky respectively. Patricia Clarkson and Campbell Scott, who were introduced in the fifth season, reprise their roles as Jane Davis and Mark Usher.

Netflix has announced that Oscar-nominated actors Diane Lane (Unfaithful, Trumbo) and Greg Kinnear (As Good as It Gets, Little Miss Sunshine) will play siblings in the upcoming season. At this time, there are no further details about their characters, but given the typical House of Cards format, they will likely be Claire's newest adversaries.

Cody Fern (American Horror Story) has also been cast in the upcoming season, although there is no further information about his role at this time.

House of Cards' Story So Far

House of cards season 6 ม ก ตอน

House of Cards tells the story of a ruthless couple, the Underwoods, as they lie, cheat, and kill their way into the White House. The show begins with Frank Underwood, played by Spacey, as the Majority Whip in the House of Representatives; with the help of his wife Claire, played by Wright, Frank Underwood makes his way to the Vice Presidency by the end of Season 1 before forcing the President to abdicate in Season 2. Seasons 3, 4, and 5 follow the Underwoods as they juggle the White House and the campaign trail, with Claire eventually becoming Frank's Vice President. Frank and Claire's relationship becomes increasingly strained, both because of Frank's self-serving behavior and the threat that the crimes they have committed will catch up to them.

At the end of Season 5, Frank chooses to abdicate the Presidency to Claire, telling her that true power occurs behind the scenes. Claire will be the president, Frank believes, but he will maintain his control over the country. Claire, however, has different ideas; she does not pardon Frank like he told her to and she stops returning his calls. In the final moments of the season, Claire turns to the camera and says to the audience, "My turn."

House of Cards Season 6's Story

House of cards season 6 ม ก ตอน

The House of Cards writers were forced to rework the sixth season extensively after Spacey was fired. They may have already planned to kill Spacey's Frank Underwood, which is how the original British version of House of Cards ends, but Spacey's premature departure from the show makes Frank's death even more likely.

Both Frank and Claire have a number of skeletons in the closet, literal and metaphorical, and so the final season of the show will almost certainly mean that Claire will have to face the various crimes and murders that she and Frank have committed. While Frank has a longer history of violence — including killing Paul Russo, Zoe Barnes, and attempting to kill Cathy Durant — Claire committed her own first murder in Season 5 when she killed her lover, Tom Yates. Whether or not Claire will remain in the White House at the end of the show, however, is still unknown.
