PC or Mac compatible! - No matter where you go, IOGEAR's Universal Memory Bank helps you to easily bring your digital images and data with you.

Suitable for quickly accessing memory cards from virtually any portable media device (e.g. digital cameras, MP3 players, etc.), this versatile media card reader supports 22 of the most popular card types, including: Compact Flash (CF type I), Secure Digital (SD/miniSD/microSD/SDHC/SDXC), MultiMediaCard (MMC/RS-MMC/HS-MMC/MMCmobile/MMCplus/MMCmicro/HC-MMC), MemoryStick (MS/MS Duo/HS-MS/MS PRO/MS PRO Duo/MS PRO-HG Duo/MS-ROM/M2), and xD Picture cards, this reader is ready to handle the memory cards from virtually any portable device from cameras to music players.

The card reader also allows simultaneous access to multimedia card types (excluding same type media), allowing you to copy files from or between different cards at the same time.

The size of a credit card, it fits in your pocket! The easiest way to read and write to the most common types of flash memory cards with one easy-to-use mobile device. Allows you to quickly and easily transfer all of your digital pictures, music and manage all your flashcard files just like a regular hard drive. It is bus-powered, has built-in 3.5 Inches cable and supports CompactFlash (CF), SmartMedia (SM), Multimedia Card (MMC), SecureDigital (SD), MicroDrives and Sony Memory Stick (MS). Includes 3ft extension cable & case jacket. Minimum Requirement: Windows 98SE and Mac OS 8.6

The way this device is designed makes it impossible to bend the pins when inserting a CF. It does cost more than several others that are easily found on the Internet but worth it in my opinion. Works every time and NEVER have any problems issue inserting the CF into the reader.

This device is a good USB2 reader, light and compact, but is not a supported device for direct reading to an iPod.... that's why I got it... just assumed it would be.

This device has worked very effectively. I use a MAC, so the one-button transfer does not function. But the reader is immediately recognized by my MAC and it's an easy drag and copy of my photos to my hard drive. No complaints, would buy it again.

I wanted a faster CF card reader, so I got this. First the software is not compatible with Vista. Contacted Sandisk and they said no problem, just use it without the "button" software. I thought fine, I'd rather not load software anyway. I tried downloading my RAW and JPEG files, and it stops with errors. My other CF card readers work fine. (I bought this through Amazon's seller "Endless Variety", and it seems they don't reply to your email). I love Sandisk's CF cards, I have 10 of them from 1GB to 4GB, so I was disappointed. To be fair, it is probably just a defective unit.

I purchased the SanDisk Reader/Writer assuming that it would help in placing pictures into Photoshop Elements. I had previously done this directly from my Camera successfully and thought the reader/writer would enhance my experience. I guess the main problem is that there is no clear instructions to follow.

When I placed the pictures on my computer using the SanDisk card reader the software placed them in a program created by SanDisk that I did not understand and could not get them into Photoshop Elements. I was under the mistaken impression that I could select individual pictures using the card reader and work on them in Photoshop but could not figure out how.

I am evidently missing something. My impression now is that it does not operate any better for me than using the cord from my camera.

Does the SanDisk card reader allow me to select individual pictures from my compact flash card? If I have to place all of the pictures on my computer then it is no better than hooking up my camera directly as I did before.

Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong -- or am I right in assuming this?

Only echoing other reviewers - this is a small, quick piece of gear. Have Vista Home Premium so I plugged the unit in, let Vista find a driver and viola! works like a champ. Don't understand the fascination with the button; I use Windows Explorer to copy and paste onto my hard drive.

Would recommend this in a heartbeat!

I have owned 2 other CF/multi card readers and they all broke because the pins in the CF slot bent. This is not a problem with this reader because this reader allows the body of the card to slide in a good inch allowing for proper alignment of the pins in to the card. This card reader works perfect every.

The card reader also has an file transfer button. You have to use the software supplied to use this function. I don't use the button; instead, I just use explorer to find the card and I get my images that way. Windows can detect the card reader without you having to install any software or drivers. So it's fully plug and play.
